Description of Works
We are recently completed the Mechanical & Electrical package at Barnsley College’s new Institute of Technology for G F Tomlinson.
The iconic 93-year-old art-deco building located on Church Street was originally built as Barnsley Mining and Technical College in 1932. It has now been reimagined as a future-ready learning environment with innovation and sustainable development at its heart, providing capacity for more than 1,000 students and staff.
Our works incorporated modern technologies throughout, with the College successfully receiving Salix decarbonisation capital for the sustainability upgrades made throughout the building. As part of our package, we carried out works associated with this Salix bid including two new air handling units with DX systems’, VRF Heating & Cooling throughout the building, Electric heating, LED lighting and 100 photovoltaic panels. These works assisted with the building receiving an asset A EPC rating making it a highly energy efficient building – a significant achievement for the refurbishment.
